Tiny Dancers
Ages 18 months – 3 years
Grown-Up and Me classes designed to encourage even the littlest dancers to move
Proper Ballet!
Even very tiny dancers are capable of learning “proper” ballet exercises. At Tiny Tutus, we never underestimate the learning capability of a toddler; they are sponges! So, we start every Tiny Tutus class with a proper warm up and then a set of exercises designed to warm up and engage the whole body, from the tips of the finger to the ends of the toes! These are repeated every week so children can become familiar with them and improve over time, much like with the structure of a real ballet class.
Activities you can replicate at home
We frequently use props in our Tiny Tutus classes, they are beneficial for so many reasons. But the props we use are always items that are generally easily available to you at home, for example, scarves, ribbons and hula hoops. Simple items used meaningfully can be very effective!
Creative Movement
Alongside learning fundamental ballet techniques, a priority for this age group, in particular, is encouraging their creativity. With this at the forefront of our minds, every Tiny Tutus lesson is designed to include ideas, actions, visuals or even descriptions to engage these young students on a creative level.
One week we could be visiting Old MacDonald’s Farm, the next, taking a trip to the Ballet Playground, or even going on a Bear Hunt. The possibilities really are endless!
…and a biscuit at the end!
A rite of passage at Tiny Tutus; some may call it bribery, I call it encouragement! A little biscuit at the end provides a tangible, well-deserved treat, and can help encourage even the most tired dancers to keep going! Gluten- and dairy-free options are available, please let me know when booking your trial class.
